We are back-to-school after almost 8 weeks off. Thank heavens.
I embraced the beautiful chaos of summer and am now embracing the chaos of back-to-school.
And I am already ready to embrace the chaos that will come again one month from now when the kids have half-term break!
Wtf. Right?
As a mum of 2 small children, attempting to grow her own business, there is no day without some chaos. Lol.
So let’s just embrace it, shall we? All of it.
Easier said than done, I know. What’s easier is to rant, drink wine and be a grump.
But that doesn’t help anyone, including yourself.
So we need to suck it up, and try our best to get on with things and be grateful for them.
Yes, gratitude. As cliche and blegh as that sounds, it is truly the only way to get through the daily chaos of life as a working mum of two.
Over summer, I vowed to enjoy the kids as much as was sanely possible; I vowed to not have excuses that I cannot work, and I accepted everything that was not possible to do and vowed to make up for it in due time.
The result was that I hit all my work goals and only had a few days of being a grump.
Writing about this to you feels like a celebration <3
Here is what I achieved and learned on the way:
I launched my free Facebook group one day after flying to Scotland. It’s an extension of this community and specifically for those of you who want to get up to speed with AI, and explore making your first dollar online. (Join it here if it feels like something you might like!)
The deadline I set was August 5, and I made it happen; amidst the jet-lag, icy weather, hyper active kids and family visits.
I realised that if I left things to wait for the right time, they would never happen.
We are just getting started in there and would love to have you if you are not in already!
Lesson: There is never a good time to do anything. Especially when you have kids. So just get on with it. Progress > perfection.
I decided not to overthink to take action in my business
Thinking does not give you answers, taking action does! And, when you take inspired action that feels right and aligned, the outcome will exceed your expectations.
Lesson: The clarity you seek is on the other side of action.
I decided to not stop having fun! The start of a new business is a hustle; and I am certainly in full hustle mode.
If I’m honest, I felt I was starting to burn out and I was losing enjoyment.
Lesson: I decided that it’s no point doing all this if I’m not enjoying it, so I needed to lighten up.
“You get what you expect, not what you want.” This is the most impactful thing I have learned about how our brain works.
In my first group programme that I ran in June - The AI Brand and Content Lab, I wanted 10 people to join. But if I ask myself truthfully; deep down inside, I had determined that if I got 5, I’d be happy. I got 7 in the end. And I think that’s because I operated as if I was going to get 5, and the extra 2 were luck.
The programme was a success for me and I have some great testimonials. And I got what I expected, not what I wanted.
Lesson: For my next round (November 4-22), I want 25 participants; and I am going to work as if I will get 25 and then I will expect it.
Of course I will be hit with fear, imposter syndrome, doubt - all of those things that may make me drop my expectations and “be real”; but I am doing to ignore them. I am told they never go way, so heck, I’m going to go for it.
So, if you are a solo or small business owner looking to 10x your content creation process strategically using AI, so that you never have to rely on a copywriter or designer again, my upcoming programme is for you!
If you are interested, pop your name on the waitlist, tell me what you would like to see in the programme and get 30% off the list price when doors open!
I have the opportunity to host my programme on Maven this year, and although I have no good reason to do it differently than I did it last time, doing it on Maven feels like it’s what I need to do - so hey, why not!?
Selling becomes easy when you believe in what you are selling and reframe your mind to understand that you are “serving”. This has been a huge mindset shift for me to be able to talk more confidently about my programmes and affiliates.
I really love everything I offer and promote, so what’s to feel icky about?
I still cannot believe I am building a business around my knowledge (digital communications) and my interest (AI).
It’s like I’m building a business from thin air, where all I need is an internet connection, a computer and some knowledge how to solve a problem for an audience.
I have learned everything about this from the pioneer Amy Porterfield. I started with a bootcamp that helped me nail my course topic, price my course, and how I would sell it; one year later I did her next level programme that led me to quit my job and now here I am.
And guess what, this year I am a partner for this bootcamp.
So if you are interested to know how you can build a business, stream of revenue or side-hustle from the ‘common knowledge’ or skill you have, you need to do this $47 bootcamp!
Amy only does this once per year, and it’s only $47. An absolute no-brainer.
I will be there too! Don’t overthink it and join us! It starts on September 12, and it’s only 5, 45 minute trainings that will change the way you think about your career.
The next few weeks I am networking and serving as gear up to serve an upsize new round of my cohort. Will keep you posted.
Thank you for being with me on my journey. It all began here with this newsletter which is truly my favourite part of the ride.
Till next week,
Abha x
