I've been working hard on my personal growth over the last few years. In hindsight, it’s not that I knew what I was doing. I was just doing what I needed to stay inspired.
In all the work I've been doing (podcasts, courses, reading, coaching), having an ‘abundance mindset’ has been a recurring theme and I think it is magical.
Becoming a mum about 5 years ago made me focus all my energy on my children, always putting them first. After my second child was born, all the energy I was giving my first-born had to be doubled, not to mention that it also the beginning of the pandemic.
Although I wouldn’t have done it any other way, it did lead me to lose the sense of “Abha” as a person. My cup was often empty.
Getting back into dedicating some time and energy for myself - whether it was listening to a podcast in the car, or becoming a member of groups that interested me, or reading stories of incredible mums (YOU) and starting to write again (leading to the launch of this newsletter!) - was key to shifting my mindset from feeling depleted to feeling energized.
I strive to be an inspiration to my kids and I’ve always had it at the back of mind that if I am not inspired, or growing, learning, and evolving - how can I inspire my children?

Becoming a mum puts a huge demand on your time and energy that can often leave you feeling drained and stagnant at the end of a long day. You start focusing on what you don’t have, or what you can’t do, leading you to operate from a ‘scarcity mindset.’
‘Scarcity mindset’ means that you believe the world is a zero-sum game. That there is only one pie so if someone gets a big slice, that means you can only get a smaller slice and there is not enough for everyone.
Having an ‘abundance mindset’ opens your mind to creating a world of limitless possibilities. It means focusing on what we have, rather than focusing on what we lack.
“When you have an Abundance Mindset, rather than slicing the pie into thinner and thinner slices, you create more pies,” - Peter Diamandis
A practical example of applying this thinking in today's world:
You either believe that with the increase of AI and automation you will lose your job and it will be hard to find another one (scarcity mindset);
Or you believe that automation will result in the creation of innovative industries that will open up new opportunities for jobs (abundance mindset).
Whenever I am down, envious, or demotivated, I revert to the pillars of an abundance mindset (gratitude is one) and I feel it has become ingrained in my mind as a reference point when I need to get out of a funk.
Peter Diamandis has some great, easy to consume content on abundance mindset. Some of the benefits as he puts them are:
You understand that the world is becoming more abundant
You don’t resent missed opportunities
You don’t fear the future
You view competitors as potential collaborators
You can read about them in detail, here.
When you are trying to achieve something, your mindset is what will take you there and it is 100% in your control.
So, shift your focus to one of abundance. It will do you wonders.
Wishing you an abundant week ahead!
Love,
Abha x
