Entrepreneurship is something else. (If you want to catch up on my journey so far, read this.)
I’m in the early stages of my journey and my days range from:
Extreme elation about what I am doing, the life this path can give me and the impact I can make… to extreme self-doubt around my capabilities and my ability to succeed.
Whilst elation is as a light as a feather, self-doubt is so heavy:
Who am I to be teaching how to use artificial intelligence?
Who am I to help you make your first dollar online?
Do I really know enough? Do I know anything!?
Who would ever want to work with me? Can I really help?
I find myself constantly looking for signs to validate what I am doing, feeding the narrative that I have “imposter syndrome”.
“Imposter syndrome is just a feeling,” said Shelley Bosworth, at at recent talk I attended.
“Everything starts with a thought. How you think is how you feel” emphasising the importance of working on your mind to manage thoughts that do not serve you.
In another talk I attended with Amy Porterfield, she talked about managing negative thoughts with the 3C’s: Catch them, Cancel them and Correct them. Super helpful technique.
I have had an incredible year so far and have no logical reason to for self doubt:
I have generated increasing revenue every month, with September being my highest revenue month since January!
With no prior sales background, I have been able to sell over 15 workshops, 1 group programme, and 5 1:1 sessions. I clearly have a business!
I have had my biggest affiliate month too, which has been an incredible win for me, as it has the capacity to be a legitimate additional income stream.
All the doubts seem to have surfaced as I prepare to launch the next round of my group programme.
The AI Brand & Content Lab 2.0
This is my signature programme that I launched first in June this year, and it really is a fantastic programme if you are a solopreneur / small business owner wanting to incorporate AI into your business.
It teaches you in 2 short weeks how you can work smarter and faster with AI, and take control of your online visibility without spending money on copywriters, designers or virtual assistants.
(Stay tuned and get on the waitlist if this interests you!)
I’ve done it once before in June this year, 8 people were in it and I have amazing reviews, so it’s a validated programme that is only going to be better this time.
So why the doubt? I’ve found myself thinking more about where I want to be rather than how far I have come.
The gap and the gain
Thinking about where you want be and feeling so far away from it (gap) can make you feel like the mountain in front of you is too high to climb. And it is discouraging.
However, if you look backwards and see how far you have come (gain) and how the hardest part is over, what’s front of you doesn’t seem so daunting.
There is a book all about this that I need to get my hands on.
So the message for today: Focus on the gain
So the next time you feel like you will never reach your goal, think about how far you have come rather than how far your goal is.
Share and celebrate your wins. Something we don’t do enough.
What are you proud of achieving for yourself today?
Share your wins here, I will celebrate them with you, as will everyone in this community. <3
It's commendable
"Focus on the gain" - Needs to be framed and looked at whenever in self-doubt
